The Elite (The Selection #2) by Kiera Cass

The hotly-anticipated sequel to the New York Times bestseller The Selection.

Thirty-five girls came to the palace to compete in the Selection. All but six have been sent home. And only one will get to marry Prince Maxon and be crowned princess of Illea.

America still isn’t sure where her heart lies. When she’s with Maxon, she’s swept up in their new and breathless romance, and can’t dream of being with anyone else. But whenever she sees Aspen standing guard around the palace, and is overcome with memories of the life they planned to share. With the group narrowed down to the Elite, the other girls are even more determined to win Maxon over—and time is running out for America to decide.

Just when America is sure she’s made her choice, a devastating loss makes her question everything again. And while she’s struggling to imagine her future, the violent rebels that are determined to overthrow the monarchy are growing stronger and their plans could destroy her chance at any kind of happy ending.
I was really excited when i started this book as i knew the competition was going to get even more interesting and we'll finally found out if America wins or not, so even though i enjoyed it mostly, i was incredibly annoyed that we are left off pretty much at the same point as the last book.

I like America but i seriously wanted to strangle her for being so torn. I think Maxon is the better choice and just wished she would stop putting him off and just say yes already!! Yes, Aspen is great too but honestly i didn't see much chemistry between them and it seemed a bit forced to me. I was well pissed by the end when she still hadn't completely made up her mind.

Apart from that, I quite liked America. She did quite a few gutsy things in this that i applauded. She also didnt let Celeste bully her who by the way i detested in the last one but seriously want to throttle with my own hand now.

Maxon is really sweet and he does a lot of cute things for her which made me go awww. I still dont see how she didnt chose him after those. However, there was one thing he did that i hated him for but honestly it was kind of America's fault. (view spoiler)

There are quite a few things that i want to talk about but i cant without spoilers but i found them very interesting. The ending had a good twist. Just when you think something is about to happen for sure, it doesnt. I really wanna read the next book so i can find out who she ends up with.

Dead Silence (The Body Finder, #4) by Kimberly Derting

Violet thought she’d made peace with her unique ability to sense the echoes of the dead and the imprints that cling to their killers…that is until she acquired an imprint of her own. Forced to carry a reminder of the horrible events of her kidnapping, Violet is more determined than ever to lead a normal life. However, the people who run the special investigative team Violet works for have no intention of letting her go.

When someone close to Violet becomes a suspect in a horrific murder, she finds herself pulled into a deadly hunt for a madman with an army of devoted followers. Violet has survived dangerous situations before, but she quickly discovers that protecting those closest to her is far more difficult than protecting herself.
its always been one of my favourite series and i am soooo sad that its now ended. I love reading about these characters so reading this was bittersweet.

Each time round, we get a cool mystery and this time round its about a family that has been brutally slaughtered. This made me think of loads of horror films that i have seen and i love how great Kimberly Derting is at creating creepy atmospheres. The murders gave me the chills and and i really enjoyed reading about the mystery.

Jay is the love of my life. I wish he was my boyfriend. I love him sooo much and was soo happy that he was in it more, as i was disappointed by the lack of him in the last one. Jay and Violet are just perfect and i love seeing them together.

Despite loving Jay so much, i have to admit that Rafe is my guilty pleasure. He just has this charisma and this pull and i just swoon when he shows up. I cant help but like him even though i wouldn't want Violet to cheat on Jay EVER! I kinda want a spinoff about Rafe so he can get a shot at being happy and we would get a book full of his awesomeness.

Chelsea is one of my fav characters and i was glad that she got a part in the plot this time round. She is soo funny and just makes the book more enjoyable. She is obsessed with Rafe in this one and it was quite funny to read about.

There is more stuff about Dr Lee and you found out the background to it but there wasnt actually that much about them. I wanted to find out more about them so that would be my only complaint.

I m gonna finish off by begging Kimberly Derting to plz plz plz write another book. I m not done reading about these characters and will miss them thoroughly. plz dont make me suffer this way!!

The Rising (Darkness Rising #3) by Kelley Armstrong

Things are getting desperate for Maya and her friends. Hunted by the powerful St. Clouds and now a rival Cabal as well, they're quickly running out of places to hide. And with the whole world thinking they died in a helicopter crash, it's not like they can just go to the authorities for help.

All they have is the name and number of someone who might be able to give them a few answers. Answers to why they're so valuable, and why their supernatural powers are getting more and more out of control.

But Maya is unprepared for the truths that await her. And now, like it or not, she'll have to face down some demons from her past if she ever hopes to move on with her life. Because Maya can't keep running forever.

Old secrets are revealed and unexpected characters make a surprising return in this stunning conclusion to Kelley Armstrong's New York Times bestselling Darkness Rising trilogy.
Woah! That was a thousand times better than i expected and i loved every minute of it. It has made me an even bigger fan of the series and i wish it hadnt ended already. After the last book, everyone has been captured except Maya, Daniel and Corey and they are doing everything they can to gain back their freedom and reunite with their parents.

This book sheds more light on St. clouds group and we find out more about them and what they are trying to do. Another rival group is introduced which doubles the stakes and the whole time i was thinking how the hell are they going to get out of this. There is a lot of suspense and i couldnt put the book down.

One of my favourite part of the book was Ash - Maya's brother. Yes, we finally get to meet him and i loved him from the start. He is a bit of a jerk but really funny and kinda felt sorry for him too when i found out about his past. I really loved the relationship that evolved between Maya and him and he definitely made the book more interesting.

I love the ensemble of characters in this book. Maya is a great protagonist, Corey is really funny, and Daniel is just perfect. Rafe, Sam, Nicole and the others join later as well and we get to see Annie too. I suspected from the first book that Maya and Daniel had something going on and that is finally acknowledged in this. As much as i like Rafe, Daniel is just way more perfect and a way better match for Maya and i was rooting for him since the start so i am really happy.

I thought the ending was really good and everything was done perfectly. This book was a great conclusion for this series that u wont be able to put down.
